Guatemalteca Bakery Restaurant: Authentic Guatemalan Delights in Los Angeles

Good food. If you sit at the right table, you can see the Hollywood sign.

When I need to have Guatemalan food, this is where I go. The hilachas and Carne guisada are perfect! The tamales sauce is so good, and the taquitos is awesome! They have avocado toast now, but I have not tasted it yet.

Typical Guatemalan breakfast with scrambled eggs, black beans, cream (crema), fried plantain, and fried pork (chicaron). To drink an atole de elote (cream of corn drink)

Food's good, tasty, but very expensive if you are accompanied by family. Very friendly staff and clean place, even the bathrooms were sparkly clean and deodorized.

I’ve only been to the bakery side so can’t speak to the restaurant side nor can I call out specific pastries as I don’t know Spanish. Highly recommend- Bakery has a big selection of pastries freshly baked. Definitely has staples (concha’s) but also a few rotating ones and all are delicious. I’ve seen varieties that aren’t usually readily available. AND their prices are unbeatable. Most pastries are under $1 so you can get a dozen for $10! Small parking lot in back.

Love this place. I visit their bakery every time I’m in the area and do recommend their authentic Guatemalan food. Generally, the customer service is great. However, my only complaint, which I have communicated to the staff and owner, is that they have only one handicap parking spot and every single time I do visit this place the handicap spot along with the extra space designated for that spot is occupied by cars who do no have or do not display a handicap placard. At times, the restaurant’s own staff use that handicap spot to place trash bins, etc. The staff have not done anything to stop this issue. It’s disappointing and frustrating.
